The story behind the card

No early Buddhist text contains this sentence; it is a modern line that circulates under the Buddha's name. The idea does echo his teaching, though. The Buddha, who taught in northern India in the 5th century BC, said suffering comes from craving: the mind keeps grasping at what it wants and pushing away what it dislikes, so changing your circumstances brings only brief relief. The remedy he taught was a gradual training of mind and conduct, including meditation, known as the Noble Eightfold Path.

Buda (atfedilir)
