When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.

Why it matters

The idea in context

Widely attributed to Lao Tzu, but found in no translation of the Tao Te Ching; it is a modern saying in a Taoist key. The Tao Te Ching's genuine chapters do teach the release it describes: soft overcomes hard, the usefulness of a vessel is its emptiness, and clinging to a fixed self blocks the becoming that wants to happen.

Olduğum şeyi bıraktığımda, olabileceğim şey olurum.
Lao Tzu (atfedilir)
