The idea in context
In modern Turkish, ordu means the armed forces or an army. Historically, related Turkic forms also meant a camp or military group; through European routes, that family of words helped produce English horde. A military camp became a word for a moving mass of people.

Modern Türkçede ordu, bir devletin silahlı kuvvetleri ya da büyük asker topluluğudur. Tarihsel Türkî biçimlerde kamp ve askerî topluluk anlamı da vardı. Bu kelime ailesi Avrupa dillerine geçerek İngilizcedeki horde sözcüğünün tarihine karıştı. Yani bir askerî düzen sözcüğü, başka dillerde büyük hareketli kalabalık fikrine dönüşebildi.
