The story behind the card
A 2013 review led by the psychologist Eric Robinson pooled two dozen experiments on attention and eating. People who ate while distracted ate somewhat more at that meal and, more clearly, more later on. People who paid attention to a meal, or were helped to remember it, ate less at the next one. Memory seems to be the link: a meal the mind barely registered is easier to forget.
