The idea in context
Authentic Tagore: from Fruit-Gathering (1916), his own English rendering of his Bengali poems, in a prayer that continues: “Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it.” The whole poem redirects prayer from outcomes to capacities — not an easier sea, but a stronger sailor.
