Why it matters
The idea in context
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the United States' national public-health agency founded in 1946, distinguishes between the long-term and the immediate benefits of movement. The long-term list is famous — stronger heart, lower disease risk. The immediate list is the motivating one: on the very day you move, attention sharpens, anxiety drops and sleep improves. Exercise is not only an investment; it is same-day pay.
