Compare a signature from years ago with the one you make today. The change may be obvious on paper even though no single day felt like the day it changed.

The story behind the card

Forensic document examiners, who compare signatures in fraud and forgery cases, expect this drift. A genuine signature changes gradually with age, health, writing speed and sheer repetition, so examiners ask for comparison samples written around the same time as the disputed one. The change is too slow to notice from one day to the next, which is why it only becomes clear when you set signatures from years apart side by side.
